Cys-DArg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2 is a functionalized pentapeptide derivative that introduces cysteine at the N-terminus of the classical mitochondrial targeting peptide SS-31 (Elamipretide). It is specifically designed for site coupled nanocarriers, retaining the mitochondrial targeted antioxidant activity of SS-31 while adding a dedicated thiol reaction site. It can be used to construct mitochondrial targeted EYPC liposomes, functionalize nanomaterials for modification, and for in vivo targeted tracking.
